I'm a cognitive scientist and my interests lay in visual perception and statistics. I am working with M/EEG, Bayesian statistics, eye tracking and layer fMRI

I'm interested in visual processing on many different levels.

In the future I will look at what cortical mechanisms actually compute and produce our visual world. For this we have to zoom in on the cortex and actually look at the different layers the brain consists of. We can do this by using very powerful research MRI-Scanners, as available at the ETH in Essen.

In the past I investigated vision on many different the levels, from photoreceptors, eye movements, category learning to prediction errors and moving humans in spatial navigation. One finding particularly excites me: we showed that filled-in information from the blind spots are treated as more real than veridical input.

I completed my PhD at the Institute of Cognitive Science in Osnabrück, Germany.
