I’m interested in the role of generative models in language processing. Put simply, the idea that the brain processes language efficiently by generating predictions about incoming words, and uses violations of these predictions to update its linguistic knowledge. Other interests include the role of generative models in other domains of perception/cognition, and probabilistic approaches to brain function more generally.

Before coming to Donders, I studied neurobiology in Amsterdam, London and Paris, where I worked on visual perception, electrophysiological modelling of epilepsy, and hierarchical generative models of adaptive learning, respectively.

Micha was awarded a NWO talent grant, and is jointly supervised by Floris de Lange and Peter Hagoort.
