"How much Olympic pools of tennis balls would I need to fill to have as many tennis balls as neurons in the average human brain?" I have no clue, but I am definitely curious now.
My research focuses on why we become curious, and how this helps us learn and explore the world around us. With the predictive brain as the starting point, I use a plethora of statistical and computational methods to answer this question using both behavioural and neural data in healthy adults and children.
Having studied Psychology & Technology, with a minor in Physics Teaching, at the Eindhoven University of Technology, and Cognitive Neuroscience at the Radboud University, I joined the Learning & Motivation lab to investigate the neural correlates of curiosity and learning. Later I joined the Lifespan Cognitive Dynamics lab where I developed new Bayesian multilevel models to understand variability in cognition in children. Currently, I am both a member of the Learning & Motivation and Predictive Brain lab further investigating curiosity!
