I have always been interested in how predictions are formed from memory and, conversely, reshape our memory in dynamic environments. In my thesis project, I am exploring how different types of surprise impact memory, proactively and retroactively, and how these dissociable effects can be captured by Bayesian models, under the supervision of Dr. Marika Constant. I am also assisting Claire Zhang on an fMRI project examining how surprise modulates the effect of choice on visual representation and memory.
I am currently a Research Master’s student in Cognitive Neuroscience. Before this, I completed a BSc in Psychology at Fudan University in Shanghai, where I conducted an EEG study on the mechanisms of suggestive false memory (an experience that first inspired my interest in the role of prediction error in memory).
Outside the lab, I find inner peace in playing the guitar, wandering through the museums, and reading good non-fictions.
