Paulo Ortiz

My main interests lie in understanding the computational mechanisms underlying how prior knowledge influences sensory and cognitive processes. Specifically, I am interested in how prior knowledge shapes the representational format of predictions and bidirectional communication in the brain. To explore these questions, I resort to neuroimaging and deep learning models.

Before joining the Predictive Brain Lab, I earned a BSc in Psychology (Cognitive Neuroscience) and a Research MSc in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. There, under the supervision of dr. Iris Groen, I worked on understanding the temporal dynamics of the human visual system using neuroscience-inspired AI.
